On June 9, 2020, QS released the World University Rankings 2021. This year’s QS World University Rankings reveals the top 1,000 universities from around the world, covering 80 different locations. 26 institutions from Asia feature in the global top 100, more than ever before.

There are 83 Chinese universities in this year’s top 1000, including 51 from mainland China, 7 from Hong Kong, 2 from Macao, and 23 from Taiwan. Shanghai University (SHU) ranks 387^th globally and 16th in mainland China. It is the first time SHU is ranked among Top 400.
